A Poet’s Qualm

Take me on the long way home.

Take me through the hills.

Take me to the mountain top

Or take me through the fields.

Take me down an old dirt road.

Take me through the mud.

Take me down a dead-end street;

I don’t care if it’s a dud.

Take me high and take me low.

Take me anywhere;

As long as it’s not where I’m going,

I don’t really care.
